Vista 64bit and HFS+

I've got an external HDD that I want to use on the Xbox and the best thing to do is format it with HFS+

Now, the only proggy I can find to do this is MacDrive...which doesn't work on Vista64 :/

Does anybody know of anything else I can use?

It's not the end of the world if I can't sort this, but it would be handy.

Haven't checked but hirens BootCD and/or any other boot CD's like gparted boot cd, should possibly be able to do it? External of whatever OS you're running, obviously because you'd be booting from them...

Sorry mate, I didn't make myself very clear reading back my post.

I want to be able to mount the external HFS formated drive in Vista. MacDrive does exactly what I need but it doesn't run on the 64 bit version of Vista yet.

HFS+? I thought it was only Macs that use that.

Don't know of any solution beyond the one you've found doesn't work. Vista64 is a complete **** when it comes to unusual drivers thanks to it's kernel protection.

HFS is for Macs, but it also works on the 360...but for some reason Microsoft didn't allow NTFS to work

Wow how retarded of microsoft, you can't mount HFS in vista i don;t think. TBH apart from NTFS and FAT most stuff is a pain to work with it seems, i was going to stick with reiser xfs or xt3 with my linux build but it just wont work easily with windows which is the main point....

If you find out how to get a PC working well with a Mac format then please let me know as I'm interested in the same thing.

Can the Xbox access NAS? I've no idea what functionality it has but I know that mac's can read/write NTFS if it's in a NAS box so maybe the Xbox can too if it's possible.

It'll do, but as you say, big files are a problem hence wanting to use HFS. Guess I'll just have to wait for MacDrive to go 64bit.

Having said all this, I'm glad I made the upgrade. It seems to be soooo much quicker. Now whether that's down to a good format, clearing out all the pre-installed Dell crap, or just the difference between 32 and 64 bit, I don't know. But I'm pleased

Just use MacDrive. It works fine on XP or Vista as long as it's 32bit.
