The 32bit version works if you copy over some certain dlls and replace them from somewhere vague i know because i've not needed to do this, but ive read about that somewhere. Have a google its possible Basically apple are being hard assed the 32 bit version works fine theyve just diabled it.

Not sure that's the case with the iPod Touch - That install of iTunes works perfectly with my old Nano, it seems as though it's just the Touch that's not happy.

I think what I'm going to do is create an XP VM just for iTunes, that way I can tell it to organise the music library and keep a copy within the VM itself. With nothing else installed it's going to be nice and quick and it should work well.

Have you tried running iTunes in compatibility mode?

Dunno if it will work but might be worth trying before going to the trouble of setting up a VM.

Yup, I have. It's not the version of Windows, it's the fact that it's 64 bit.

Phew, I googled a bit yesterday at work to see if I could find out whether it'd work in a VM or not and the general opinion and comments from people who have tried it was that it doesn't work.

But it does. And it works quite well. I've told iTunes to manage my library and it's done a much better job than I thought it would.

So I'm happy

VMWare or VPC?

Glad it worked, still hate iTunes with a passion
