I have 5 minutes left before I leave work and I swear the next person to ring me is going to die. I've been on my own since 3.30 and had every stupid customer we deal with on the phone talking to me and I've just this minute had the warehouse manager call me up to enquire about an advice note I sent through as some of the bits needed building up. I politely told him that I had also sent through the paperwork to get them built and marked on there to go with Advice Note no. (whatever it was)

I swear we only employ people who have a had a full lobotomy at this place

Oh and earlier I found out that the sys admin hit a big red button that stopped anyone making changes to customer accounts. Well done moron, thanks for letting us know *bangs head against desk*

It's a funny thing.. we (sysadmin) regularly do some bits here that have a knock on impact on the support teams. Do they ever pay attention to our messages about them (every change is preceded by a change control sent at least a couple of hours before, which gets e-mailed out to all staff)? Do they hell. Do they complain in the pub after work about us not telling them? Routinely. Do they bother to even guess at some of the implications of what we're planning on doing? Seemingly, no.
We almost wonder why we bother.

The problem with our sysadmin guys is that they don't tell everyone what they are doing till we find a problem, then they say something this. This change was only because 1 or 2 people in another company (5 companies in our group) were changing the customers area for the area mangers so their sales would look good. Was funny hearing my MD on the phone demanding to be allowed full access again. The main problem is that the business software we use was designed and built by our current sysadmin, but it's hellishly outdated and everytime he does 1 change something else also happens

It's always good fun though.

Your company really should put change control procedures in place, adding a level of peer review (every change control I submit necessitates a manager to authorise it to take place)
NOC have the right to veto any change control if they think its too many simultaneously or they think there may be a conflict.
