Default MKV to DVD

I've got a load of MKV files on my HDD (close to 500gb worth) and was wondering if there was anyway of burning them to DVD so they could be watched on a standalone DVD player? Nero doesn't see the MKV files so I assume they would need converting first?

Also, which is the best burning software to use?

I've used VSO's ConvertXtoDVD to burn MKV files, it's quick and easy to use.
