Lid switch on DS

GF's DS Lite has started switching off randomly and sometimes not switching off when the lid is closed, leading me to suspect the switch.

Is this a common fault? Is it easily repairable? Anything I can do?

Have you tried contacting Nintendo?
They may well trade you it for a new one. I believe it is common as I know of at least one story from someone I know who had this problem.

Thanks for that, seems to be behaving itself for now but will give Nintendo a shout if it starts happening again.
