Default Quidco

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with Quidco? It's one of those sites which you can earn cashback on with a large range of merchants on things like insurance, credit cards, purchases, mobile phones etc.

Copied and pasted from their site:
"Quidco is the web's cashback cooperative. Quidco collects referral commissions from online merchants and passes them all on to our members. The Quidco cooperative is a cashback revolution where members keep their full earnings in exchange for giving Quidco £5 out of their earnings once a year.

The Quidco model works for both the merchant and you. It enables the merchant to reach a large base of motivated savvy buyers and it enables you to get back big savings by buying from merchants who participate in the model."

My boss at work absolutely swears by them and has earnt (and received) a large amount of money back in the past year from them including ridiculously cheap car insurance due to the amount of cashback she received and an essentially free mobile phone contract.

In all honesty, I don't understand how they can work and get you all this money back... but apparently they do, and I know someone who has hard evidence of this.

Anyone else got any experience with them? I've signed up and bought our home/contents through them today. It was a saving on what we're currently paying and I should get £120 cashback on top of that... I'm just still feeling a little pesamistic on whether it's going to come to fruition or not! Still, worth a try and I can always cancel the policy within 14 days if I'm not happy. It was with a reputable company.

I love quidco
I don't quite know how it works but I made £82 from signing up for a Vodafone contract online in the summer and got £95 coming shortly for signing up with Prudential Car Insurance.
I've also used it for smaller transactions too, just checked and not including my car insurance which is going through now, I've made £96 out of quidco. Not bad at all

Oh well that's good One more person who likes them. How long does a transaction usually take to show up?

I'm sure you've seen adverts on other sites, right, well they get commission back for referring people who then go on and buy stuff. Quidco use the same referral schemes, but instead of keeping what they get back as profit, they give it back to you (after deducting £5/year). It takes a while (months) to get the money (though they usually acknowledge the transaction within a few days - it'll give you a rough idea how long it should take on the Quidco site), and I've not had any yet, but hopefully it'll start turning up within a month or two (I only signed up in September and haven't used it much yet).

Tip - if you're going to sign up, consider having a seperate browser just for buying stuff through Quidco. Firefox portable is a good one. The reason for this is because Quidco uses cookies to track their referral links, and all the other advertisers do this too, so you can end up with money that should have gone back to Quidco going to someone else. You should clear the cookies in this 'other' browser every now and then too.

A few days usually depending on the retailer, though it takes a few weeks for the payment to be authorised. I make quite a bit with Quidco and eBay as the payout is pretty good (35% of the seller's fees)

Ooh, didn't know it worked with eBay otherwise I'd have used it there at the weekend. Mind you, it was only a £12 winning bid, so wouldn't be that much.

I've never bothered clearing my cookies especially for quidco and never had a problem Although it is a wise thing to do I guess.
Also never bothered worrying too much about how long it takes for money to show up, as long as it's tracked, I know it's coming eventually and I could always do with the money

I do always forget to use it for ebay though, really must get into the habit of it.

I started using it a coupla months ago and currently have made...£294.15 confirmed
Of which £60 has been paid to me, the rest will dribble in over time.
Its fantastic!
* 2x sets of car insurance (on when pru offered £130, and one now when they offer £95)
* 1x carphone warehouse contract
* various bits from play and HMV

Will renew home insurance next year through it aswell and redo the cars. Its very very good.

Ah fantastic. Was worried people would post lots of horror stories based on very little fact Glad everyone's having a positive experience. I don't really mind if it takes a few months to get the cash back as long as I get it.

Read all their bumf about cookies and browsers etc. before I went and did my quote/buy for the home insurance. I use Firefox anyway, so I just stuck with that. Just checked and I have £120 showing as "Validated". WOOHOO!! How exciting

How does doing car insurance for someone else work? If I put Leon's through on my account and he paid using his bank details, could he still get cashback on my quidco account?

I keep forgetting about Ebay too. MUST remember that next time... and play.com. It's just getting into the habit isn't it

There's absolutely tonnes of stuff to get discount/cashback on. My mobile contract is up this month, so that's next

Re - someone else's insurance. I'd guess that's down to the insurer as they'll decide whether or not to pay out. If the insurer pays out, Quidco will pay you, doesn't matter who the insurance is for or whose card you used to pay it.
