RIP Smokey. :(
Last night when I got up for work I discovered my youngest cat had fallen asleep in the bathroom and never woke up. Absolutely NO idea what happened to him. No signs of distress or discomfort. In fact I thought he was asleep (not unusual for him to sleep on the bathroom floor). So I said hi, but he didn't even wag an ear at me. So reached down and pet him and he was cold.
The hardest part was hugging him inside my jacket so my son wouldn't see him. I'm not entirely sure how he would have handled the idea through his autism, and I wasn't going to leave for work with him in a distressed state and my wife going to bed soon. So I bundled Smokey up in my jacket, took him outside and buried him. I had to make sure I put a couple cinder blocks over the grave so the dogs don't dig him up. And now I feel like total **** because I just discovered I don't even have a single picture of him.

So sorry. Glad it seems to have been peaceful - maybe he even was asleep on the bathroom floor when it happened.

RIP.
A horrible experience but with the consolation (if that's the right word - probably not) that it seems to have been peaceful. |

Ah that's awful, especially for your son. Really sorry to hear you had to kick the weekend off with such bad news.
There is an upside though, you do get to pick out a kitten. May I suggest I Bengal?
