Question Monitor - 2407WFP or 2408WFP?

I now need to get a new monitor as my old Iiyama 19" square lcd is failing and I'm going to get a Dell 24" jobbie - I'm sure I read somewhere that the 2408 isn't as good as the 2407 but am I imagining that?

What's the better monitor of the two to go for?

I was really jumpy about going to a TFT. I saw them as a big step backawrd in quality from the 19" CRT I had. I bought a Samsung and I nearly cried when it arrived. Fortunately I sent it back.

Then came the Dells. Both TFTs you mention are fine. In fact, recent reviews really rate the 2708 but they are both rated 90%+ anyway. I'm very very happy with the 2407 I have. I think Tyson has the 2408.

The Dell 24" monitors are great, got 3 here, 2405, 2407 and 2407HC... all very good.

There is 1 here 2nd hand might be worth a punt.

I've got a 2408WFP on the way, it'll compliment the 2007 I've already got. Couldn't be without two monitors and my old Iiyama 19" lcd died yesterday.

It is when you don't have the physical space for it!

Apart from that, I'd expect a higher resolution than that on a monitor that size wouldn't I? I know that 1680x1050 is rubbish on a 22" and would expect the same with 1900x1200 on a 27".

Can't say I've ever had any problems, and I run mine (2707) at below-optimal resolution as well. It's only 12.5% bigger than the 2408.

What resolution do you run the 2707 at, Mark?

Obviously as tft/lcd monitors have a fixed number of physical pixels, anything other than the native resolution will be a slight compromise in quality compared to a crt so I'm interested in what you run and how you find it.
