Caught Speeding
On the way home from dropping the parents off at Luton airport I had to pop home and get changed for work. I pulled into my village and was doing just under 40 when I saw the 2 coppers with a speedgun. I got out of the car and they offered me a choice:
Fine and points or Drive to the local junior school and sit infront of 5 kids while they ask 10 questions about the highway code and why I was speeding. So I opted for that. I've never felt like such an idiot in all my life sitting there while the kids asked me questions about me speeding. Was a bloody good idea though and much better than just handing out points and fines as you feel like such a mong sitting there. On the plus side, no points or fine though. What is annoying is I don't normally speed in the village I was just in a rush to get home, get changed and get to work and eat as I was starved. Yours, thoroughly abashed |

A couple of the questions were like the one Vix mentioned, I thought about answering sarcastically but decided against, 5 kids, a teacher and 5 coppers in a room makes you think very carefully before answering.
1 of the questions was, what reason did I have for speeding, another was how would I feel about hitting one of them can't really remember the rest off hand. It was the highway code questions I stumbled on, couldn't honestly tell you when the last time I read it was. I did have a joke with the coppers and CSO's though before and after at least about me still being the only rep without speeding points Bam, I did wonder what would have happened if I had answered truthfully, everything I said was what I assumed they wanted to hear, which was pretty crap. I doubt the police would have found it funny if I had answered like vix, but then in all seriousness, if I hit a kid where I did then he shouldn't have been on the road as it's houses 1 side and nothing the other and they should be looking before stepping onto the road. |

Oh sure, I get that, I meant "seriously" as in the way the Police intended you to act.

Why should he not criticise what you say on the forum? That's pretty much a carte blance excuse for saying anything without being criticised. You did pretty much say 'We should be able to speed past schools because kids shouldn't be there to get hit', which i'd say is a pretty stupid sentiment in anyone's books. Fair enough, do 90 on a motorway, where everyone does, do 50 in a 40 whatever, but most people generally respect good speed limits around places like schools as being sensible and with merit.
