Price of beer is always shocking in clubs, let alone spirits drinks. They've got you by the short and curlies because you can't bring your own drinks in and they sting you for everything they think they can get away with. I once did the math whilst coming back from clubbing. Metric -> Imperial conversion is tricky when drunk. "A litre of water is a pint and three quarters", the result nearly shocked me to sobriety. You can usually expect to pay something like 3 or 4 quid for a bottle of Budweiser if you're lucky.

(1000/330) * 4 = £12.12

(12.12 / 7) * 4 = £6.92 per pint!

As I've got older although technically I've been able to afford it more I've been less able to justify bar booze prices. It's shocking the amount some people manage to drink their way through every week! Maybe I'm just a miserly home alcoholic

I went to a pub/club before christmas with work, the prices were ok but I was drinking southern comfort and coke (first time whilst not in house). He poured the measure from the optic and said "how much coke you want". My first thought was that I'd like some SC in there first! I'd never noticed how small a measure is before.

When we make them at home we must be having triples or quadruples.

Oh dear - only been there three months and you've already been indoctrinated.

Anyway, I almost do the 'sobriety' bit and I've noticed the same with soft drinks in some places. I wasn't paying that much attention, but I'm sure that on occasion I've been charged close on £2 for a smallish glass of lemonade. WTF is that about. :/

Yup, alocoholic drinks are bad enough, but soft drinks are downright robbery.

Especially when they openly pour it from a 2 litre bottle (price marked 99p for example) and underfill the glass, and charge £2 for half a pint. me off no end

I thought I'd be polite and not make a big issue of this. The word "math" really annoys me.

They joys of being a lightweight o/ I used to drink like a fish at uni, but then again most draught was <£2 /pint. Only have a couple out now, four and I'm on the floor. Trouble is its long been the case that its cheaper to actually buy beer than drink coke.

I am like Jonny in that I like a nice beer and watching a film in the evenings.

I think in Leeds in a few pubs its £3-£3.40 a pint. But that is right in the centre.

Don't come to London then - thats pretty cheap lol!

I guess one of the 'benefits' of being in London is that everywhere else is cheaper so you take advantage.

Ha ha... glad you enjoyed yourself though.
