Spec me a phone.
Right am thinking about something a bit more than a normal phone.
iphones are meant to be crap so I keep being told, what about samsung pixon? Its 8 megapixel camera phone which is what I will be mostly using it for plus videos and mp3. Anyone got one? any advice on phones would be greatly appreciated thanks http://shop.o2.co.uk/mobile_phone/Sa..._Monthly/page1 thats the pixon. |

Whether the iPhone is crap or not simply depends on what you want it for I think. If you're not bothered about the things it can't do (such as sending picture messages) then it could be an excellent phone for you. Really depends on what you want from your phone.
Have you thought about the HTC phones? Something like the Touch Diamond or the Touch HD could be good for you if you want a full featured phone.

Sounds like you just want a "good" (subjective) camera phone, then yeah go for a pixon or any other generic normal phone with a big camera parked on it theyre all pretty much the same no days. Otherwise if by different you mean functionality, look at the vasssst array of smartphones out there. Depending on what you want need, symbian, windows mobile, iphone, android they all have there ups and downs. You just need to do a bit of reading up and really decide what you actually want from a phone, and if you can't really think of much just go grab a normal phone.
Personally for me atm it has to be a small symbian smartphone, i then take a real (decent) compact camera out with me when i need to take pictures as even a cheap compact will always take a better photo than any camera phone. I also use my iPod more than my phone for music because i like having my whole library with me which isn't possible with any phone on the market atm... |

I want a phone with full internet on umm mp3 but doesn't need to store much, camera for me is important as I always have my phone with me but don't take digi cam that often so to be able to grab those funny/cute moments with my kids I would like to be able to do it on my phone.
Umm not sure what else, don't send pic msgs that often but I guess if I couldn't at all then I would either get used to it. maybe? So whats your views on iphone? I know there is a thread but can't be bothered to look through it all atm (yes I am lazy ) looked the reviews up and most of it sounds pretty good. Will look in town after I've picked son up and see what suits my needs. |

Love my iPhone, although I'm not 100% sure if I'd buy it now considering the competition but at the time it was perfect for me
It is flawed, lack of picture messaging doesn't bother me (I hardly ever send picture messages), but the touch controls can be irritating at times. I miss being able to text on the move as it's just too awkward to do while moving now. Camera could definitely be better, I'm sure my old w810i was better, but it's fine for snapshots and certainly when you're looking at photos on the phone, they look fine. Lack of multitasking is annoying too. Plus points for me: internet's great on it, I've got the 2g version so Edge only but it's still pretty fast and wi-fi points always seem easy to find. Loads of apps, free apps at that, and very easy to get configured. 8gb mp3 player which is handy I can watch converted films on it which is handy for journeys. Looks cool and having been practical for years with phones, I like being shallow for once However, I'd definitely look around for other phones as there are so many other phones that do all these features, as mentioned by others.

iPhone is good, but it sounds like you'll be underwhelmed by the camera. I'd be looking at the n95 then or n82 they've been around forever but they were so ahead of their time they're still a massive hit. Good solid camera and functional in every other way as well as being an amazing smartphone. Unless you're after something touchscreen, which means looks at the non smartphone pixon i guess (but thats all that springs to mind atm). I can think of any decent touchscreen smartphones with decent ish cameras. Although i'm not that clued up on the 100 or so WinMo phones that get released by HTC every week

Out of those three the Omnia is leagues ahead of the others you've mentioned, also the most expensive. The n95 is very good value for money now days but its still right on the top of its game.

My iPhone found me a pub which did decent food this evening and directed me to it as well
Shame the beer it served wasn't up to much but they didn't charge for it anyway. Horses for courses really.

i still love my TyTNII after a year, but it does seem the problem now of 'which phone!?!' to get next.
I keep thinking i want an iphone thats not an iphone. i love the simplicity of the integration of things on the iphone for quick updates to social sites like twitter n facebook - i just don't want to have to get an iphone to get said simplicity. Its well worth looking at HTC though, as i say, my TyTNII is great - basically any phone that lets you flash the rom and has the kind of community behind it that this thing does will be great as theres constantly things to update in order to keep it on a par with the new phones that come out whilst you're stuck in that 12/18 month period after getting that 'new' phone. |
