Question Expensive watch insurance and/or general insurance?

So i need some insurance for my 21st Birthday present, my Maurice Lacroix Open Heart Peseux Masterpiece MP7108. I was thinking of just general house insurance anyway to include my bike and watch, but it seems insurance in a shared accommodation flat is actually outrageous since we don't have internal locking doors and apparently can't trust each other (done pretty well for 2 years already).

Anyway i want to insure it for theft/loss/damage anywhere really, i could never ever replace it if the worst happened but at least its some consolation. I've had a wee search online but i'm not really finding much.

Any decent student insurance though that could cover my phone, laptop, mountain bike and watch (pretty much everything i would rather not lose/break in life) inside and out would be pretty cool including the car i guess as well... Although i guess i'm expecting miracles

Not possible with student insurance because you're all thieving s***

Joking of course, but check the valuables limit on your current policy. Insurance at student digs is very much a specialist area and the preserve of the likes of Endsleigh, so I wouldn't hold up much hope of getting it covered on the contents insurance if you've already explored that.

However, have you explored the possibility of putting it on the insurance in Liverpool?

We haven't got any insurance policy atm and haven't had one over the last year* Dad isn't really willing to put it on our insurance at home, wants me to do it separately. I offered to pay him to difference, but tbh the house insurance we have is pretty stingy it wouldn't cover most things that i'd manage to do with it away from home or outside it seems...

*Worryingly really since between us we've all got thousands of £££'s worth of stuff, no that's not an invite to break in

Single item insurance it is then. You can expect to pay for the privilege so for all its spangly goodness you might want to think about whether it's worth the risk/cost.

Is it worth more than 2 grand? I'm pretty sure that's the threashold for most single items on standard house insurance.

My contents is about £26 a month with zero excess and any item either inside my house or outside up to that value.

Its worth it, nearly went mental the other day when i thought i'd lost it. Its something i can actual replace but if i did lose i'd want something for. 21st Birthday present manual winding watch is about as sentimental as i get...

Chuckles its worth about 2 grand, i can't really get contents insurance though from the few providers i've spoken to unless i get a lock internally on my door to my room in my flat. Which i can't be bothered doing and if i did i wouldnt use anyway making the insurance void. Otherwise that seems a good idea...

That's not what I meant. I was suggesting that perhaps it's worth thinking about putting it somewhere safe until you're an ex-student. Better safe than taken out and lost with no insurance.

Nah i'm not someone to hide things away Mark, i live for now, i want to enjoy and wear it now. Student or not, sounds silly maybe but i don't see the point in having something so nice and not using it.

THMarch look very good, did a web quote and they'll charge £90 for a years worth of cover on upto £2000 loss and i could include other personal items in this (phone and laptop spring to mind the way they word it) anywhere in the world upto 30 days cover. Webquote seems pretty comprehensive but gonna ring them tomorrow and make sure i've got everything right. Cheers guys!

I'm pretty sure Endsleigh will insure you on your own in a shared house, have you checked them? There is an option to add extra individual items over £1k.
