New camera time
A while ago, I got goey eyed over a Fuji S20, but got confused with the difference between a S2, S20, S7000 etc.
Im not looking to spend a whole wad on photography, but I would like to know what the best camera to get into DP is. I already have a point and click sony dsc p-100 and although good, does't work anymore, so can someone reccomend something good. |

Canon S3 IS http://www.boat-drinks.co.uk/showpos...84&postcount=3
Seriously considering this myself, mostly because of the 12x optical zoom which comes built into the camera, this seems to be a the next step before a proper DSLR which is going to eat money at a much faster rate. However it depends on how compact a unit you want, the S3 is more like an SLR than a compact, this suits my big clunky hand though MB |

Or, if you want to stay on the Sony side, the DSC-H2 or -H5. The -H2 is 6MP with a 1.8in TFT, the -H5 is 7MP with a 3in TFT. Other than that, they're the same - and stand up well against the S3 IS.

I was thinking around the 300 - 400 mark. I don't mind second hand, I just want to ease into the "enthusiastic" category

My Fuji S9500 will do me for now.
Got a 20d at my parents place *it's now been repaired - YAY!* but I think I'll leave it there for a while as I will spend a fortune on lenses.... I do like the Superzoom camera's though. They're a good compromise. Simon/~Flibster

Where does the Fuji S9500 come in between the Fuji S2, S20, S3?
How does the Canon S3 IS compare to the S9500 or the Fuji S3? |

Are there any ones that are in my price range that have swappable lenses?

The Fuji is a slightly older model, so probably closer to the Canon S2.
If you want to go DSLR, you're probably better off going for the 2nd hand market with that budget. |
