Thinking of leaving the hobby behind
After thinking about it for months, I think it's time for me to pack photography in as a "hobby" of mine. I say "hobby" like that simply because it's really not. I bought the camera primarily for our honeymoon last year, but also because I hoped I would get into it as a hobby and get into it seriously. Unfortunately, while I do quite enjoy it, as a hobby it ranks way below my other hobbies, and the last time I used my camera properly was back in August when we went to Florida. I figure I may as well sell my gear now while it's still worth something.
So, if you know of anyone who's interested in the following, just let me know! Canon 450D + 18-55mm IS kit lens EF-S 55-250mm IS lens + lens hood Lowepro AW 160 camera bag

I might be interested in the lens - or certainly might know someone who is. Hang fire a bit Dave, I'll make some enquiries
Would help if I asked what kind of price you're looking at too!

I might also be interested in the lens and camera bag Davie. What condition are they in? (assuming pretty immaculate).

Abooie, they are indeed pretty much immaculate, I'll get some pictures put up later for you
Kitten, hadn't really thought too much about prices. I know my lens is still selling for around £190 new (without lens hood), so would around £120 or so be unreasonable? I really have no idea what they sell for second hand. I'd probably prefer to sell the whole thing as a job lot, but don't mind splitting for the lovely people here

I'd definitely be interested in the lens Davey, but if you wanted to sell as a package and someone wants it, then fair enough. If not, I'll sort something with you x

I'll make a post on OcUK (don't have enough posts to sell on TP) to see if anyone is interested in the body and kit lens. If they are, I'll happily split and sell the lens to you, would much rather sell parts of it to someone I know will treat it well

You should keep the camera Daveyage. It's a nice camera and doesn't matter if it only comes out now and again. In my opinion the technology on the 450D is far enough advanced (from a picture taking perspective) that newer models are only going to have a higher pixel count, so it's not like it's going to become obsolete sitting in the drawer. My 350D is the same. I see no good reason to sell and upgrade just for the sake of more pixels, so if I don't use it then there's no problem with it gathering dust.

Hold the phone, my flatmate was looking at buying a 450D new t'other day, and i was telling him how silly he would be not to buy second hand
I have no idea how much this is worth and how much he'll offer, but just seriously give me a figure you want for it i'll tell him and i'm sure you're both winners really!? |

I had thought about that Jonny, for some time, but to be honest, given the moderate amount of picture taking I do, our Panasonic TZ6 is more than adequate for it. It's not ideal in low light admittedly, but it's still more than good enough for most events I may want to take pictures of, and having a smaller camera suits me fine!
