Ooooh Matt you've been doing your homework!
I drove an ST-3 on Saturday too and if I'm honest I preferred the Ford purely because it felt more solid. But the drive wasn't as smooth, there was the big WHOOOOSH when the turbo kicked in (I know some people like that but thats why I LOVE your car, smoooooth power). Plus the ST made a very sexeh noise! If they had been the same price, I'd have got an ST there and then on Saturday. But, the Renault was £4k cheaper, t has all the same gadets I've since found out but with less buttons to do it all with so it looks more sparce. No rattles or squeaks which I was told to expect too. Plus the extra seatbelt in the back which the ST didn't have (on the 3 version anyway).

I was very disappointed Saturday afternoon when I realised I just couldnt afford an ST3, but having slept on it, I'm actually pleased with how it's panned out. ST's are a bit chavvy ain't they ( ) and they're everywhere you look around here. The Megane will be extra fun purely because it'll have the WTF! effect. Servicing is cheaper, better mpg (ahem! My test drive in the ST averaged 14mpg ). I've got a fairly rare car which is very nice to drive 'normally', you don't feel like you have to rag it to get a good drive from it, good specs, loads of fun, a tiny bit of practicality in there to keep the mum in me happy, nice colour, cool wheels, lots of buttons on the steering wheel, what more could a girl want?!

Race ya!!

Oh, I get it FRIIIDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!! They're sorting out a carpark ding in it for me on Wednesday and taxing it. I'm so excited I feel sick! Is it incredibly sad that I took the longer route to town so I could drive past and see it with it's little sold sign in it?

Heh, but those SRT-4's are a whole different breed. It's like comparing the original Mini to a modern Cooper S. They are totally different cars. My wife drives an original Neon (everyone feel sorry for her). I've driven one of those SRT-4's. The only thing they have in common is the heater controls and the name. EVERYTHING else is so far upgraded it's unreal.

I never thought I'd say this, but it's actually a FWD car I would consider owning.

I have a big fat cheque and a tax disc in my bag ready for 3pm tomorrow. Decided to p/ex mine for this one so the PonyMobile is going tomorrow too, I'm surprisingly upset. It's been an excellent car, reliable, solid, passed every MOT with no fuss, towed like a dream and for a while it made my horsey ambitions come true. I'll be very very sad to see it go

Onwards and upwards.

Yup - t'was a good car that - especially for bringing an offlicense worth of wine back from France a few months ago . Needs must though. Just remember how expensive it was to run and you'll remember why it had to go.
