Lucky Number Slevin is absolutely brilliant and is the first US film of its sort to match the likes of Lock Stock and Snatch, which goes to show they can do it...

Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
After all I heard about this movie I expected it to be brilliant. It was okay. Didn't find as funny or as good as the original 3 movies. Shame really, although I think is mainly as Harrison Ford is getting a bit too old for the role The Incredible Hulk (2008) Pretty damn good actually with a few nods to the original tv show, mainly the music when you see Edward Norton walking along a road and Lou Ferrigno in a cameo A bit slow to start off with but gets a lot better, prefer it over the other Hulk film with Eric Bana. |

Night at the Museum
8/10 Pretty damn funny with a big museum coming to life at night due to a Mummys tablet :> Some great effects (sound and vision) and some truly brilliant casting/acting. Let down by some random slapstick humour and Ricky Gervais though

I liked the bit when he pointed to Lou Ferrigno & said "You're the Man"
I thought overall it was pretty good & a lot better than the usual attempts at comic books. |

TBH mate, I think the same of Keanu playing "Neo".
APoL trivia #377 in an occasional series. Rumour has it, that Sean Connery was one of the first people to be offered the Role of "Morphius", but he rejected the script because he didn't understand it. |

Take comedy for example. Most of the US stuff is as funny as a burning orphanage, but when they get it right (Seinfeld/Friends/Simpsons/3rd Rock etc etc) they really hit the spot. |

Most definitely. US humour is, for the most part, not funny, certainly not witty. The Americans go potty for their talk shows such as Conan O Brian, Jay Leno etc.. but they really aren't that funny, compare that to Jonathan Ross and I'd say he's much better - though I do really like Ellen DeGeneres' chat show.
I also don't find the US version of The Office funny at all, where as I loved ours. I just think that when it comes to complex humour the US is often found wanting. Where the Americans do shine though is drama, which is why I find it staggering that struggle with good modern gangster films when they have TV shows like The Shield and The Soprano's, and similar shows like Entourage which are absolutely stunning and leave our shows standing. |

I remember reading an interview with one of the "Python" cast (Palin I think) who said that a lot of Americans seemed to think that Monty Python was actually one of the cast members, and that most of them seemed to think it was John Cleese. |

How to lose friends and alienate people
The first half is what would happen if Mr Bean said 'f***' a lot. The last third is like something Richard Curtis rejected as being too trite and feel good. In between there are some laugh out loud moments and some real clunkers. Disappointing. 5/10
