If your going through halo you should try grifball in the matchmaking this weekend. Two teams of 4 with hammers.

Hitting SF4 hard again...
I'm not sure whether SF4 is the greatest or worst thing to ever happen to me regarding gaming. I'm utterly addicted and when i win a good match the sense of satisfaction is unrivalled, however the number of lame 'giefers' and disconnecters really take away from the experience. Another thing that is bugging me as of late is that people are either far worse than me or far better; i either hand someone their ass or have it handed to me, both outcomes result in me learning little. There are few people who are on the same level as me anymore, i think the problem is i have the potential to be good but haven't played a beatemup since Tekken 2 on the PS1. Other people who enjoy fighters probably have indulged themselves over the years and thus their dexterity and reactions have carried forwards, i however am pretty much learning from scratch. I know how to play but am incapable of playing very well. Then there are the low enders who just can't play beatemups and are unwilling to learn, they just spam dragon punches and are easy prey for anyone with a modicum of skill. Anyway, boring rant aside, yeah, SF4, love it or hate it it's addictive as hell.

Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, picked it up cheap secondhand, took a short while to get into it but wow what a great game. Reminders me so much of the Mario 3D games, and if I do say it's actually better. So much to do it's keeping me hooked (not even tempted to look at the other new stuff I've got , GOW2, Fallout 3 and something else).

Sounds like something to do with Zangief. Probably someone doing that really annoying spinning clothesline move.

Many players simply mash the R1 button, this unleashes a constant stream of 'lariats' (spinning clotheslines) which are very high priority and very heavy on damage. As all they have to do to execute this rather effective move is press one button they can just mash it during your combo and if you mistime an attack, even by a few miliseconds which you would get away with normally, he'll do his lariat and more than likely knock off more health than you did from him during the bit of combo you managed. Then there's the more skilled players who use his throws which are incredibly high priority and also tend to break combos well. Solution against the lariat spammers is to stay back and keep out of range, this is really boring as it just involves lots of zoning and quick jabs from range. Very dull. The solution to the latter is use a decent ranged character, people like Abel (my main) who also rely on close range attacks will lose out to giefs meaty throws. From reading around on enthusiast websites it seems Gief is at the center of many character blanance debates. I would be happy if they just lowered his health a bit as at present he deals some of the most damage but can also take more punishment than most characters. This results in you chipping away at him for a while only to make a single mistake that he then capitalizes on, doing huge amounts of damage, and you're back to square one. In essence, i hate him. He's either boring to beat or he'll beat you. You also tend to find its the gief players that quit a game when they seem to be losing, i think his easy to execute lariat lends itself to players wanting easy wins. In the hands of a skilled player he's very impressive but imo bordering on unfair at times. With that said, i've got all my ranked match related trophies now so i don't often venture into the world of the gief.
