Running shoes are a size 12. Annoyingly I have size 12 Vans that fit nicely and size 11 Vans that fit nicely. So I'm not really sure if my running shoes are a size above what they should be.

I haz nu shoez. Muzino expert told me that my current ones were too supportive, so gave me a neutral pair that are a size larger.

15-16 miles today. Looks very windy. No sports drinks while I run just water and electrolytes.

Managed to do 15 miles today. New shoes aren't helping my toes at all. My 2nd toe on each foot is taking a hell of a beating every time I go out. It hasn't got time to heal.

But that's not the real issue. I'm struggling to do over 13 miles. I walked a little today just to get through it. My pace was 12 min / mile and even at that slow pace I could just about do 15 miles. It really feels like my body wasn't meant to run past a half marathon. My legs were really aching after 13 miles.

I really don't know how to get from 15 aching miles to 26.

On the plus side, switching to water and Zero tablets seems to have fixed my electrolyte issue.

Haha, miles are better than k's.... cos I now understand how far you ran

Well done girly... ONWARDS!!!!

Pete - I find that once your toe is damaged, new shoes won't help. I hurt one of my toes in my cross country shoes the other weekend. It was just starting to recover from my last marathon. Anyway, it now hurts when I run. Only rest will heal it... and I CBA with that to be honest

Not sure what to suggest with you struggling to run further than 15. Have you tried gels? They do some with caffiene in which are supposed to be really good for picking you up mid-run.

Caffeine doesn't affect me. It's quite annoying.

I guess I have to just keep going and hope for the best.

On the subject of stretching, I've never done any kind of static stretch before any kind of training. My training order of play goes thus.

800m very easy jog. Sip Powerade. Dynamic Stretches. Sip Powerade. 2 x 60m easy paced sprints in trainers. Sip Powerade. 2 x 60m slightly quicker sprints in spikes. Sip Powerade & eat a couple of squares of dark chocolate/bite of Snickers. Decide if its cold enough for long lycras/not. Go out & kill myself doing sprints ranging from 60m to 300m all practically flat out. Throw up/convulse for a bit. 3/4 very easy 60m runs in trainers on grass. Static stretches. Packet of Wine Gums & some more dark chocolate.

It varies from time to time. Sometimes I don't feel like throwing up depending on my eating pattern beforehand but sometimes - like 6x250m @ sub 30secs pace - it doesn't matter!

No point training if it hurts Mei Mei. See how it feels after your jollies

Your training sounds very complicated camerajuan. I just go out there and peg it. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow, sometimes fast and slow

Yay! Back on track

Jollies obviously helped lots... managed to do 9miles today

1min in between when I reset the freaking machine... but in reality this would be drinking time anyway...

6miles 56m 15secs
3miles 28m 10secs

Total = 9miles 1hour 24mins 25secs + 1min for drink time

Legs are knackered but was at a good pace and felt like I could have kept going so happy.
