Thanks. 9th is the run so tapering starts today. Still taking jelly babies and doing ok on them. But yeah, I'm looking at 5+ hrs.

If jelly babies are what you've trained with Pete, stick with them. Lots of runners train purely on jelly babies. They aren't so good as the specialist gels, but they're good enough and they're a lot more palletable! Your body is going to suffer no matter what. I think you know that by now. It WILL be painful and you WILL feel like giving up. Just grit your teeth and carry on. The last 6 miles will be completed willpower alone. You WILL get to the end, and then you will feel absolutely brilliant Rest up now and "trust the taper"

If you're tapering properly, you should feel like you have a lot more energy on race day. You almost always have a crap run for your last LSR, because your body is knackered after the weekly long runs. You'll be all ready and raring to go by race day

Yeah, meant to say try it first, on shorter runs ofc.
Does anyone know when I can expect any sort of race details through? Mine is in two weeks and I've nothing except a notification email. Last entries are this Saturday I think but if they're planning on posting anything RM it might not arrive until November! Argh, just seen why the back of my left knee is hurting, the strap looks like it rubbed the skin raw and there are two bloody (lit.) blisters or something! Going to run home from the station tonight. I need to get back into the habit of doing it because it's a convenient 6k I can fit in.
Only downer is having to use public transport all the way in to work. It borks regularly and when it borks it borks bad. 2 hours 40 to get in this morning
