You won't be disappointed with a Jean-Georges restaurant. I went to one in the Bahamas (cafe martinique) which was nice except it was all rebuilt American-style faux-French ie. to us Brits, tacky - that's the decor though. Food was absolutely sublime.

And that's the cheaper restaurant of the 2 there! The posh one is Dune at the Ocean Club (where they filmed casino royale); parents went there and couldn't fault it in anyway whatsoever. Which is a lot from them

I also recommend Mesa grill - again not been to the NY one but the Bahamas one does the best steak I've ever tasted, and a superb wine list.

Enjoy, you jammy dodger, I am sat here very jealous

The signature restuarant in NY looks classical but a bit bland

though the chance of a Michelin 3* meal for what will prob be "only" about $400 all in isn't one to be missed

I must be missing some sort of gene, because I just wouldn't enjoy a meal that cost me $400. I hate pretentious places and being fussed over, it just makes me feel uncomfortable. Plus I've never been to a posh restaurant that wasn't pretentious. I'd be much happier in a small place, full of local atmosphere and tasty food you can eat with your fingers . I think you get far more feel for a place in a place where the natives eat, and a lot more for your money too.

It can be like that over here but in the US it is no where near as bad, overly fawning maybe but not really experienced pretentious

It's like if you go in a Gucci shop over here and you don't fit their idea of what a customer should they look down their nose at you, I would have no problem going in one in the US in jeans and a football shirt

just to add $400 is for both of us and I expect it to include drinks, tax , tip etc

I've eaten in a lot of expensive restaurants Stateside (as a guest of someone else) and I feel they're just as bad as here, tbh, just more plastic Especially in New York, it's just so...i dunno, false.
