I agree re false but that's the American service culture generally
The meal is for Cheryl's birthday so don't mind splashing out a bit After all I have to maintain the standards that a woman from Stanton Hill would expect ( Dee should get that one ) |

Don't get me wrong, if that's what you like, I've not got a problem with it. I know lots of people who love splashing out on fancy restaurants and there's nowt wrong with that at all , just isn't not for me.

One day I will get my butt to New York, at which point I would be happy to eat 2 day old chips I found in a bin! |

Mind you this is the Bahamas - it's so awesomely cool over there (and the Bahamians love seeing us Brits, mainly because we're not American I think lol), and every restaurant was superb - especially the local places! Always best to go to local places I think but every now and then a 'posh' place is nice to go to - just as you say keeping away from anything pretentious / too formal. I don't think my family would survive in a formal restaurant |

I quite like posh pretentious food
But I don't like the over exuberant customer services culture they have in the States though.

Apparently "24" is being filmed in New York as we speak. It airs in Janaury, but do they still film and air at the same time? Or do they film the whole thing, and then air it?
It would be awesome seeing it being filmed somewhere |

My mate came back last week from a few days in NY and saw Matt Damon filming near the courthouse. I couldn't stop hearing the south park 'Maattt Daaaymon" when she told me They were filming SATC when we were there last, there were flowers on the road by the library, now we know why!!
