Walked into an o2 phone shop today, went to the desk, and the bloke behind it said
"24th of June, and no we have no idea on prices yet" before I even said a thing!

He did say that the £60 to buy out the rest of my contract wouldn't mean I would then get a free phone though, and there would still be a cost on top

There are various rumours kicking around about device costs on contracts but nothing confirmed at all yet. One I've heard for o2 is that if you sign up for a 24 month contract at £45/month then you'll get the phone for free.

Because I'm on the o2 iPhone simplicity package at £20/month and don't want to be tied in to even an 18 month contract, let alone a 24 month one, I've ordered a 16Gb iPhone 4 from Apple today for delivery on the 24th.

With the cash I've got from recycling my 3GS to o2 (I got in while the price was still good) and the mileage expenses I'll pick up from a trip to Ludlow at the end of this week, I've only got to find a few quid extra to pay for it.

Whilst not confirmed officially, the Vodafone prices that went up earlier before hastily going back down (that karbon has linked) look pretty much on the money and i'd be surprised if they changed or if anywhere else was significantly cheaper.

I get the impression O2 don't want iPhone 4 users on Simplicity. They don't seem too keen on providing a micro-SIM on it anyway. Of course, there's not a lot they can do about someone being handy with scissors.

How don't they?

There are two ways to get a micro sim. If you've registered to receive iPhone 4 updates from O2, you may receive a micro sim from us in the post before iPhone 4 is available. We can't guarantee that everyone who registers for iPhone 4 updates will get a micro sim, so if you don't get one in the post, don't worry. If you decide to buy iPhone 4, you will get your micro sim at the same time as your iPhone 4.

can someone tell me the exact deal with how the recycle works - i see the price is already dropping so I'm at a stage of trying to decide whether to just go for it now and see if i can cope with one of my mums old phones for a few weeks but depends how the recycle works... when do you have to send your phone off?
