Premiums are now going to be shipped with HDMI as standard, and are rumoured to have 65nm chips in them. Already started appearing on the shelves in the states.

I guess so. Rumour was they might have contained built in wireless, but it was just a rumour. If the 65nm are confirmed then I'd say it's a fair shout.

Price cuts...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6954718.stm I think they might have got their demographics a bit wrong though (or maybe it's just us). |

The core is now the same price as a Wii, which is interesting

At the prices quoted in the article £300 for the new elite and £250 for the premium, why would anyone buy a premium now?
For an extra £50 you get an extra 100 gig of hard disc space. Doesn't make sense to me these pricings. Especially as the 120gig drive by itself will be £130. Or is it just me?

I would have thought it means the Premium is a more attractive proposition for more casual gamers who would still like a hard drive rather than a memory card, also for people like families.
Not everyone's going to need 120gb and in the case of a family, the price difference would mean an extra game or two instead when they might not be planning on downloading much. No doubt the need for more HD space will increase soon enough but not everyone's going to use it. Even I've still got about 5gb spare atm despite having plenty of downloaded content on there. Similar thing with how I can run out of space on my PC despite having 370gb worth of HDs yet my parents touch 4gb at most on their 60gb HDs.

The real kicker is that the 120GB HDD is almost as much as the core. How they justify that I'll never know :/
In other SKU news, some screen shots 'leaked' or fabricated (leaning towards the latter but the idea is sound imo) suggest that the 3 SKU's will evolve into the Elite as it is now, Premium becoming 'Pro' and having HDMI, and the Core becoming 'Arcade' - containing a memory card with 5 arcade games, wireless controller and HDMI (probably just makes sense from a production point of view to stick with 1 mobo). In theory that's great, same price as a Wii, can actually be used for games and appealing to the casual gamer/family gamers. Trouble is the mass market probably dont have a clue what Live Arcade is :/ Could just become a quick, relatively cheap replacement for a dead/out of warranty 360. We'll see.
