I had the same issue when I cancelled virgin from my old flat moving to my new place (I didn't need virgin) - charged me a fortune - it included a cancellation fee.

I refused to pay and wrote many many letters.

They dropped the fee to the remaining outstanding for the 2 months left of the contract.

I also wrote a letter of complaint to Luton airport for charging £1 for a plastic bag to put your liquids in - no way in hell was I going to pay because of THEIR stupid airport rules of **** and bollocks and crap. It's ****ing stupid for a start. Needless to say that I kicked up a fuss, but had no choice but to spend the £1. I wrote to them wanting my £1 back (other airports offer you the bags since it's them imposing their ruleso n you, so it's not your problem if you don't have a bag). It took 4 letters, and I asked for reimbursement for the postage too - I got a cheque for £2.20p - I felt so so petty but I didn't care.

Lastly, I complain to Easyjet for interupting us every 5 minutes on a 50min flight for selling duty free, and talking about lotto, and special promotions etc... not only was it every 5 minutes it was ****ing LOUD. Sleep? No chance. I got for my complaint, a letter stating they were sorry that I didn't enjoy my flight, and offeredm me a 30% discount on my next flight. Bonus!

True, but at the end of the day you signed a contract for a certain amount of time, as well as agreeing that if you wanted to end your contract before the end date then you would have to pay till the end date.

No point getting annoyed with them for keeping to the contract.

There always loopholes, and compromises.

Like congestion charge in london is effectively a contract with TFL - but I still disputed it and got my money back.

There are thousands of cases every day that are contractually binding yet the 3rd parties come to a mutual agreement, it's just the way of the world. Contracts are general rules to tie the average person into a certain agreement, but they are not absolute in all cases.

Ooo err Will... will be speaking to Virgin tomorrow to give them a heads up on us moving eventually then. Don't want to be stung with a cancellation fee!

If theyre anything like Sky, they just require 30 days notice as long as you are out of the 12 month contract period. I still had 2 months left on my sky contract when I moved out of my flat, they downgraded me to their minimum package for the last 2 months and then that was that.

Well I spoke to them today and because I've already blagged £22 odd off a month, they said if we reduced down to a minimum package it would still cost the same as they'd have to remove the discount!

Weirdos. Wasn't in the right frame of mind to sort through it all so will do so tomorrow morning prior to my tea when I'm nice and grumpy

Give em Hell Pheebs, failing that set me on them. I blagged a 2nd virgin plus box on my Mums account for nothing extra (they normally charge 10 quid extra a month) I pretended to be my Mum (she knew I was doing it, but is rubbish with getting stuff out of people) and rang them and laid it on thick about how much a month I spend with them, loyal customer, pay bills on time blah blah, and lo and behold a "special offer just in today" meant they could add another box at no extra monthly cost.

I don't know if you have read the full extent of my problem.

1) I went on holiday and asked for my internet access to be disabled while I was on holiday and re-activated when I got back.

2) All was fine, so I thought, until I received June and July bills totalling over £1k - they hadn't disabled the internet access they had deleted the free unlimited data call package from my tariff so I was now being charged for all my data calls.

3) Since then I have been charged for data calls on all subsequent bills, been cut off 5 times (cancelled my DD as I wasn't going to allow them to take £600 out of my account) because I hadn't paid - I called them each time saying I don't mind making a payment but these data charges need to be credited first.

4) Was put on a 250mb free usage package so if I go over (unlikely I know - but thats not the point) I will have to pay.

5) My august bill still has data charges on it, the guy I have spoken to today has asked his supervisor to start me on the free 500mb package on sept 21 and to recalculate my bills - I added my July bill up with him on the phone and it was incorrect.

If I hadn't spoken to the guy in point 5 I would have written a letter (have logged all calls/dates/who I spoke to).

Why shouldn't I? :/

As far as I am concerned I have been through a lot of agro having to call Orange every month since June about my bill and 5 times for being cut off, my bill is STILL being wrongly calculated and all because someone at Orange made an error.
