Knight and Day

Silly. Very silly. Switch your brain off and don't think about the plot holes and you'll do fine.

7/10

Toy Story 3

Worst of the 3. Far too sentimental *or maybe I'm just a heartless bastard?* Although there was a few funny moments, they were too far apart. Also, it's a touch dark for young kids. Has a couple in tears at points in the cinema last night.

7/10

Little side rant: I'm pretty sure that every trailer before both these had "In 3d" somewhere amongst them. I'll be very happy in a couple of years when they realise that 3d is a complete waste of time... again...

It's taken the cinema industry years to get the majority of screens up to the required brightness for good cinema - so they bring 3d in and the glasses take away 15% of that immediately. And the quality of the movie is decreased - 2k resolution instead of 4k...

I'm fine with 3d, but within a couple of minutes it gives the other half a massive headache and she's on the verge of offloading her lunch. I've heard that this effects between 5 and 13% of people - thats s sizeable chunk of audience.

AND you have to pay more to see a 3d movie?! Evidently to counteract the fact that not everyone will be able to watch it. I suppose that they have to keep the profits up...

I think the higher price is more to do with the more expensive tech behind it.

Road to Perdition

No point in a long review as I'm sure you've all seen it by now. Finally managed to stay awake for this and got to say my opinion's totally changed. Great film, good acting and a powerful score behind it.

7.5/10

The Proposal

Ok, I was bored, it was on Sky and I had nothing better to do...

...That said, it wasn't as terrible as I was expecting. Main characters are a touch meh, but the Grandma has all the best lines and is just fantastic.

Scott Pilgrim vs the World

9/10

Scott Pilgrim is full of epic win and lesbians. Edgar Wright has done an amazing job making a girly romcom for guys who like Capcom Its just fluffing brilliant, filled with tiny little nuggets of gaming, 8bit, geeky references. Its kinda like Alley McBeal for gamers.

My only one complaint is the Zelda music in the film isn't on the soundtrack. Thats just insanely criminal!

I want a Sex Bob-omb alarm clock. "WE ARE SEX BOB-OMB AND WE'RE HERE TO MAKE YOU GET THE HELL OUT OF BED!!!!" I also want the comics which are buy 5 get the 6th for free at Forbidden Planet. Dunno whether to buy them or the ones for the iPad. Soundtrack rocks too.

Date Night

Rubbish, don't waste your time. There are better chick-flick-no-brainer films to waste your time on.

3/10 (3 for the nice Audi)

I didn't think it was meant to be a chick flick?

Saying that, it isn't one of Carrells finest pieces

Thomas Newman has to be one of the greatest film score composers of our time, his music just takes my breath away. Him and also Clint Mansell, amazing.

Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans

Starring
  • Michael Sheen
  • Bill Nighy
  • Rhona Mitra
  • Steven Mackintosh
Third in the series of vampire/werewolf films

6/10 It's fine as a completely brainless film, don't think about it too hard, enjoy the fights plus Rhona Mitra and you won't go too far wrong. It's hammy with Bill Nighy enjoying playing the bad guy albeit not up to Alan Rickman levels (who is?) but it's not too bad for all that.
