I Love You Phillip Morris
Not about a tobacco company as I thought, but rather a supposedly true story about a chap, played by Jim Carrey, who comes out as gay and in order to finance the life he wants for his boyfriend turns to fraud. He gets caught and goes to prison, where he meets and falls in love with Phillip Morris (Ewan McGregor, on top form). The remainder of the film details their relationship in prison and Carrey's attempts to get them out. Very enjoyable film, not as comedic as I expected, but the acting is great and the story very good, especially towards the end. Worth it imo just for McGregor's performance as the shy, soft-spoken Morris. 7/10

I saw this recently as well. Really good film. Glad that Carrey's showing off his talents now and not just arseing around.

Idiocracy.
Well this was quite funny, but to me on more levels than the film anticipated. The people they depict and the way they show the place really reminded me of Croydon and the people in it. Just the way the people there look and act and the way Croydon has that appearance that it's been through some kind of apocalypse

Starts off a bit slow but in actual fact was a really good movie in the end. Russian spys and the CIA - who is Evelyn Salt? Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber - Ange looks hot as a brunette and a bit emanciated as a blonde 8/10 BB x |

Phantom of the Opera
Beautifully presented big screen translation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical. I enjoy this one, though I haven't seen it since I caught its theatrical release 6 years ago. Beautifully set, sung, danced and acted, a solid performance from all the characters involved. Suitably over the top as befits the fairly 2D characters from the musical but not cringingly so, and not in any way that detracts from it. Gerard Butler does once again struggle to lose his Scottish accent as the Phantom, and Emmy Rossum gives very good credit to her classical training as Christine. 8/10 -2 mainly for the occasional plot quirks that don't make much sense.

Scott Pilgrim Vs The World.
Totally awesome film with a banging soundtrack! Is already one of my fav films after only one viewing. Loved everything about it. I'm a big fan of Michael Cera though as he always picks awesome films to star in.

Serenity
Starring
8/10 I've watched this before and enjoyed it as a film in its own right despite being told that I'd never understand it or enjoy it unless I'd seen Firefly first but recently I've watched Firefly and felt like seeing if it made a difference - it does although the enjoyment was as much in noticing how they'd linked it together as for the storyline itself. If I ever find the person who cancelled Firefly in the first place though we're going to be having some serious words about recognising what is a good TV show and what isn't... As a side note why is it every time that someone raves about the women in Firefly/Serenity it's Summer Glau and Jewel Staite? Don't get me wrong they're both pretty and I can see the attraction but really Morena Baccarin and Gina Torres are much sexier.
