As for levels, I just wandered into the O2 shop closest me (Shirley High Street) and got one. I don't think they are short of stock.
Yeah but if they didn't have a PAYG package, were they still selling the 3G SIM free for a lump sum? I didn't think they did, I thought initially it was only with contracts and later they made PAYG available with a higher lump price for the phone.

Not that it matters though, as its already been established that the 3Gs is in plentiful supply in any guise.

You are correct that the 3G only same out with a contract SIM to start with, but that was O2's choice, not a technical one. Since 3G PAYG SIMs already exist, the cat is already out of the bag, so to speak.

Yeah they do I think.

You actually have to pay the phone cost plus another £10 for the SIM, which is a bit annoying. I asked in the shop if I could avoid it, but it's mandatory - Same in the Apple store as well.

I think I might chuck it with my iPhone 3G that I've got one ebay. It might make it a bit more appealing as its got a years free data on it.

Like you say, I'm pretty sure you won't have a problem finding one in Southampton though.

well 02 have well and truly buggered up the porting on my phone.

Yesterday it swapped over to being the ported number if I rang out on it, but I wasn't receiving any texts or calls on it and they weren't going to the old number either. Apparently, o2 tell me this is a wide problem with the porting from orange phones and they haven't yet found an answer.

Joy.

Sounds like fun. I'm on Orange so when I get my iPhone I may just keep their number and text everyone with it, rather than piss around getting my old one ported over.

hhmmm. Not so sure it's o2 now. More likely to be orange playing sneaky and not releasing the numbers. O2 customer service > Orange anyway.

I moved from Orange and it was seemless. It did take about 24hrs for the phone to actually work though before texts started to come through.

I know when I moved from T mobile to O2 it all went smoothly

I swear by O2, I have never had any issues with them, wish I had never left them to be honest.

Same here, was a customer for several years and never had a single problem with them. Can't wait to go back tbh!
