I used mine on the train yesterday, it is MUCH better with the cancellation on. I think the cancellation does 2 things.

1 - It is like a headphone amp, the volumes actually gets a 15-20% bump
2 - It cancels out external noise (duh!)

The Noise cancellation is not a gimmic, it works, if i put the headphones on, the close back design filters out some noise already, but if i turn on the noise cancellation (but music not being played), the background noise disappears.

If they're anything like as good as my Bose QC2s at the job, then you bet they will.

I suspect I would order if I didn't already have four sets of noise-cancelling headphones (two of them silly-cheap Creative jobs, but meh, they just about work).

From what I've read they improve quite alot after they've bedded in (around 25+ hours)

All in all they sound excellent and the cancel the noise really well. A word of advice though I would keep it on all the time as it sounds so much better with it on.
