This doesn't fill me with confidence... I'm going back to ntl having had numerous problems with BT being incapable of giving me MaxDSL that stays up for longer than an hour or two.

I've been with NTL since the days they were cabletel and although the bad reports, they've been pretty good here

Does seem to vary by area though.

I was with them for a couple of years after I moved into the house and was so thoroughly fedup that as soon as ADSL became available I ditched them. Mind you, thinking back most of the problems were with the TV & telephone, neither of which I'll be using.

The extra bandwidth will be nice though, 10Mbit vs 4.5-5Mbit that I get now (when it decides to work)

Slightly off topic but there are things you can do to improve max dsl, i was having constant disconnections (quite annoying when playing WoW) but resolved it now so it's pretty steady and syncs at around 7.5 (downloads near that speed though).

Even regular DSL seems to have it's moments. I got speeds down as far as 100 Kbps tonight. When you're trying to watch a 150 Kbps NASA feed, that's a bit of a problem.

Mind you, Houston most certainly had a problem tonight. They started a live press conference and all their TV kit went ape****. While the engineers were scurrying around trying to fix things, someone left a microphone switched on. Somehow I don't think they intended the resulting comments to be broadcast.

There is only one phone socket - the router plugs directly into the master socket using a filtered NTE5 faceplate, using a twisted pair RJ11 cable into a shiny new Cisco router. Trust me, I've done everything I can and BT have admitted that they can't improve the situation.

My house was brand new on a new area with very good condition phone lines and the wire i pulled out helped a lot. Could be worth trying anyway, there is a ringer wire, pretty much unused these days which can act as an aerial and cause interference. It's an orange wire which needs to be pulled out but i cant remember the other one, i'll try and find a link.
