Only thing I'd like to cut out is chocolate. I go through spells of not caring less then spells of eating enough to make me sick in a day (2 of the largest bags of Chocolate Buttons back to back for example).
I bet you had pancakes on a certain Tuesday didn't you?

I gave up abstinence.

I'm supposed to be starting my diet on Monday. Working nights and the kebab van may well call us, maybe Tuesday then

I don't drink alcohol for 6 months of every year. For those who don't know, my current shift pattern is 4 weeks on the rig and 4 weeks off. During the 4 weeks on the rig there is, of course, no alcohol available so when I'm working, I'm not drinking. TBH, I don't have any difficulty with it although I will admit that the last few days before I get off the rig, I'm looking forward to a drink.

I don't drink nearly as much when I'm home as I used to either and even more so since I started my healthy eating and exercise regime. Nowadays, I'll have one sensible sized whisky each night and a bottle of wine on Saturday. Although this takes me to about 20 units a week, it's a far cry from what I used to drink - after 30 years (I started at 13), I'm finally drinking alcohol at a sensible level.

As someone who used to be a very heavy drinker (in my late teens/early twenties, I'm ashamed to admit, it would be normal for me to drink 200+ units a week), I can appreciate the sacrifice you made and the willpower required to stop completely for 40 days - well done cheets. The trick now is to keep your consumption at a sensible level and continue to enjoy the health benefits of moderate drinking. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to preach - I'm still prone to the odd binge now and then and I think it does one good to let go occasionally (I did last weekend - boy did I let go ) but I find I enjoy alcohol more now that I treat it with respect.

200 units?! that's 14 double shots of spirits per day.
