I started going out in town when I was 15 and didn't get ID'd once until I was over 18, now I get it all the time! But as every year passes I start to realise it's almost complimentary now
Pheebs - I know what you mean about bouncers - some of them have a serious inferiority complex / zero power control / roid rage!

3rd on the bouncer thing, I was shocked by a lot of them when I went out couple of weeks ago.
One could have been done for sexual harassment as well as being a complete gob****e. He wouldn't leave my friend alone until we had a few blokes with us, weird he was. |

Think it depends, i see it all the time, i'm not a bouncer so i have no reason to be on a proverbial high horse. But people are total ****s to them at times for no reason. It's part of their job and its all about give and take, one of our bouncers was a knob and was told to leave for that reason so they don't last long ating like that, others are amazing yet get harassed and argued with for little reason all the time.

Everywhere I go around here they're doing "If you look under 40, we'll ask for ID".
I guess the idea is that if you're over 40 and get asked you'll definitely take it as a compliment?

It's a better way of doing it, stops the underage idiots round here buying booze. Should be one rule for all, as 16/17yr old girls in particular can easily look over 20 when all tarted up.
Works well in America. It also puts the onus on the bar staff/server to ensure as they can easily get done for it as already mentioned police occasionally stop in to check. I don't see why people have a problem with it, I hardly know anybody who doesn't carry some form of photographic ID around with them (Normally driving license). |

ROFL, that's an excellent line. My last one went along the lines of 'but I'm going grey and bald, I must be over 18...'

Nah you defo can't count on people going bald to ID them, yeah in most case, but in most cases you know who to and not to ID, but most cases isn't water-tight enough. There comes a point where it seems silly though i agree

The only legally recognised ID I have is my passport. I've learned from past experience to take it with me if I'm likely to end up in a club (very rare), but otherwise I don't unless I'm on holiday. Carrying a passport around everywhere is just a tad inconvenient.

I carried my passport around with me until I finally got round to re-newing my Driving License for a photo one. I never got ID'd when I was younger, but when I lost a load of weight, people seemed to think I looked younger. It's quite flattering to get ID'd nowadays
