I think you're doing something wrong, Will - It won't convert files unless you tell it to and even then, it will only convert to the format you specify. It supports mp3 so there's no way it should be trying to convert anything if you're feeding it mp3s.

I should learn to keep stum but the day I uninstalled iTunes ranks up there with the birth of my children.

Meh I dunno, I think it's the WMA files it doesn't like. Anyway I have it as a necessary evil - but it's not my media player of choice.

Yeah it'll convert WMAs but not MP3s. But who has WMAs anyway - that'd require the use of an app I won't even utter the name of.

But I agree it can be a little slow on occasion but not often enough to change the fact I like it. It manages my massive array of podcast subscriptions, a few audio books and all my music perfectly

I think he means that to get a WMA file, it needs to be created with WMP which is something unmentionable

iTunes was doing you a favour - making them into a halfway respectable file type
