My standard reply is "already do" no matter what it is - they usually just thank you and leave you alone then. If I want to give to a charity I'll do it my own way and I definitely wouldn't sign up to anything in the street.

There are usually 3 along cosham high street which try and grab you - the number of times I've been on the phone to Mic and said "clipboard people - keep talking to me"

These guys are almmost exclusively direct dedit sign ups only and cannot take cash, my usual technique is to tell them if they were able to take money I would give them a couple of quid but I'm not signing up to a DD. They look at you like your some kind of devil but loads of DDs soon add up and make it hard to keep your finances under control, thats not to say I don't have a few because I do but I don't sign up to more in the street.

I really hate chuggers, get loads of them in Reading during lunch break or on saturdays. Couple of weeks ago one young girl came up to me and tried to get me to donate and I told her "I don't donate to organisations who employ people to acost me on the streets". She looked really pissed off and said "Been rehearsing that have you?" - well no I don't need to rehearse it, you tossers have me saying it almost everyday...

Really annoy the hell out of me. For me charity is a private and personal thing and I don't discuss or make donations on the friggin' high street.

I'm charitied out at the moment, no more! Call me a git but I've given enough recently. What really topped the bill was in the hotel they are raising funds for charity. They are automatically adding £1 to your bill meaning you have to stand there in reception and say no. Its opt-out rather than opt-in. I can see some not wanting to lose face and just accepting it, it's very much a posing hotel set up on a business park.

being Charity of the Year person at work and sponsoring people etc etc, I feel do my bit for charity.

I don't think so. I think these are the guys who get paid a commission for every direct debit sign up they get.

It's only really the team leaders that make any money from it. It's a glorified pyramid scheme in a lot of ways.
