Ok, maybe I should rephrase that. Enough armour for ME to feel comfortable taking a NATO round would make me look like 16th century knight!!

I've seen lots of body armour in action, there's some amazing kit out there. However it's not infallible, and certainly specialist ammo seems to be indifferent to what armour you're wearing.
I tried on an "under" garment body armour - it almost felt like a slightly thick t-shirt - yet was rated at stopping the majority of handgun rounds as well as some shotgun cartridges. Rifle round protection is always going to be more difficult owing to the nature of the bullet IIRC?
