Managed to survive without seeing any match reports and got a chance to watch both games this afternoon.
Oh dear... both matches were rather scrappy, a fair number of silly unforced errors. That trip was utterly ridiculous. That said they were pretty good games regardless. Italy showed itself to be .. well.. Italy. I've long since expected anything particularly worth watching from them. Ireland usually does a better job of ripping such teams to shreds. England vs Wales, decent match all the way through if you ignore the scrappy aspects. When they got their act together things were great. Given it's the first game of the 6 Nations which are usually scrappy I'm expecting pretty good things from both teams for the tournament. Scotland vs France promises to be a very interesting game tomorrow, but not sure what chance I'll get to watch it. Tomorrow is also Superbowl Sunday

Scotland vs Wales...
Wow now that's a game that reminds me why I like Rugby. Scotland had it completely in the bag at 75 minutes, then boy oh boy did Wales finally switch on. Two silly penalties by Scotland just ensured Wales got to do their thing.

France are looking dangerous. If they carry on like that I think they have a shot - France vs England is going to be epic!

Defensively France were superb against the Irish, although the bounce of the ball went their way too early on.
Unless they have a massive wobble in the Minnellium Stayjum I can see them wrapping up a Grand Slam against a gutsy but limited England in Paris in March.

Scotland v Wales match - Scotland really did throw that game away with some ridiculous discipline in the final 10.
Really amateur stuff - how frustrating for the rest of the team, and Wales are too good to not take full advantage of being 2 men up; brilliant example of converting such an advantage to the maximum! France are by far the most convincing team thus far: Ireland, as ever, playing either on or off - inconsistency is certainly their largest hurdle. Midway through the Italy/England game at the moment and it is quite clear that England have much to change in their game before they will give the current french lineup a close match, let alone the bigger antipodean guns!
