I need a reason to wear a kilt, Mrs. Feek reckons I have the build for it and that it'd suit me.

If you ever get a kilt make sure you get the right length. There seem to be a lot of young boys these days in kilts that are waaaaayyy too long for them. A kilt should be the length that if you kneel down the kilt edge just touches the floor.

If and when I ever do, it'll be somewhere in Scotland and I'll come up just for that, I've just been reading about them and it seems that on us *ahem* stouter *ahem* gentlemen that the kilt should sit around the belly rather than below it as my trousers all do so it will definitely have to be custom made. I've got a feeling (oooo-hooooo) that it'll be expensive if I ever do it so it'll need to be right.

As Muban says you've got to make sure the kilt hangs right, I'd always been told it should be mid-point of the knee as you're standing up which would equate to touching the floor as you're kneeling down. Kilts do suit stouter gentlemen quite well but it shouldn't be much more expensive, if any, than any other kilt fitting - however any kilt isn't a particularly cheap option especially if you get the full outfit at once.
Possibly the most important advice I can give you about wearing a kilt - make sure you tuck the sporran to the side when ceilidh dancing, it's a painful lesson if you don't but you'll only do it once. You'll also end up being the focus of attention for any hen party, especially the middle aged hen parties - oh the humanity.
