You need to update your BF% date at the bottom of your sig!

I'm craving carbs at the moment - I'm cutting them lots to try and look a little less puppy fat-like for the summer on the beach. I'm verging on ketosis at the moment, but the pee strip's not quite there. Don't think I'll go for full on keto but just very low carbing at the moment - it's haaaard!

Good insight, I'd better post a reply and keep reading afterwards or the work firewall will block me

I'm not really doing ketosis, but sub 80g is more than 1/2 what I used to eat! Past the initial bit so feeling better now. Had a great leg session.

Definitely responding well to it though, needed to give my body a bit of a shock.

Nice post Will!

This is the trouble with the body and the fat/muscle issue. So many people have "all the answers" to all you fat problems. So many diets, so many methods, so many training routines, etc. etc. but how many actually understand the biological functions going on underneath?

From reading that, I think, from what I understand of it anyway, that there is no "one size fits all" diet or exersise regieme, you need to alter your intake and activity to suit each other, check the byproducts and revisit the intake and activity in response?

A bit like keeping fish (in a much simpler model, of course) where you have a nitrogen cycle which is impacted by the fish, other additives (waste food, algae, etc.) and the filters. Your filters need to be capable of meeting the needs of the fish, or they get sick, but this is largely dependant upon the ratio of chemicals in the water, so you need to test the tank regularly and adjust those chemicals as necessary. Get a balance and everything is fine, however, add more fish, or change their diet, or the amount of water in the tank, alter other residual chemical production (switching the lights on, for example) or alter the filter itself (and thus reduce its effectiveness) and the balance may be lost.

The same with the body... change your diet and you need to alter your levels, types and patterns of activity to suit. Change those too much and you need to change your diet to suit your new activity, and get the diet wrong altogether and no amount of alteration can make up for the defficiency (or excess) . However, without the feedback of checking your body, it's largely guesswork on what it needs to function properly...

Indeed - 100% right. There is no one size fits all option - that's exactly what I was driving at. Every body is different and responds differently to different elements - but the key is keeping balance within your body. Too many people change one thing and don't change others.
