Too little too late isn't it? I can't see them dragging enough people away from FB to make it worth while.

Technically this is Google's fifth social network. They bought Orkut and later Jaiku. Then did Buzz, then Wave and now Plus.
I don't believe it is too little too late. Your parents are unlikely to join G+ and they'll stick with Facebook because their families are on FB. For me G+ is a nice place to hang out. It's like Twitter / FB in the early days. FB has too much noise now. Does a social network really need Farmville etc? I'm finding G+ to be a breath of fresh air. I've heard nothing but positive reviews of it, compared to Wave / Buzz. Circles is a brilliant concept and solves an issue I've had with Twitter / FB. I can say what I want to various groups. So I don't need a "Professional" account and a personal account. I just have me, and I engage with different people just as I would in the real world. I haven't tried Hangouts yet but from what I've heard its cool. The person speaking gets the top window with everyone else below. It automatically switches around so the speaker is highlighted. Very clever. Short answer, I like it. It has potential. http://www.computerworld.com/s/artic...orking_fatigue

there's loads of people I know on there now. It's looking good. And creating things like a Game of Thrones 'circle' for example is brilliant. Much better than a facebook page or group.
I think it's definitely got legs, seems to integrate the best bits of twitter/facebook without (so far) all the idiocy that occurs when you've been somewhere a while and everyone turns up. It's probably going to be a bit elitist, certainly to start with, as facebook is a lot easier - and a bit like the Jeremy Kyle of social networking now, but that suits me fine. Probably same thing will happen at Google+ eventually, but for now, it's fun. I likey

It definitely has potential, but I don't know enough people that use it to really warrant it at the mo!

you can post to just one person at a time though, right? So that is kinda like private messaging.
