I like it, it smacks of all that "What ho, kites a bit dicky. Ginger bought it over Dover and the bally hun are on the run, what! Hoorah for Good Queen Bess, damn fine filly and mines a pint of old spatchcock, dontcherno!" sort of thing. Good old fashioned ballyhoo Britishness.

God save the Queen, I say, and all who sail in her!

Have the monday off as I'm forced to use annual leave days to cover bank holiday but refused to use annual leave for the tuesday as it is an "extra" one (told the director if he gave me an extra days leave to cover it then I'd happily take it off)

From what I know though, small businesses don't have to treat it like a bank holiday; same as last years extra one, its optional.

Ahahaa, I like the comparison! Completely and utterly diabolical comparison! Hilarious mind!

As Kitten says, party time and happy people = meganess! I quite like seeing the flags about and the sillyness!

I tell you what, it's all a lot more fun and organised than the Olympics and their penis shaped mascots!

I worked Monday, am in Thursday then off til Thursday 7th using one day leave only. Though the Tuesday hol doesn't affect that as won't be paid for it anyway. I just think people are too bloody miserable now regardless and no-one with half a brain/smidge of morality even connects the BNP with the union flag before anything else afaic. From what I see, people who do tend to want to make an issue of it or appear controversial. The flags are flying everywhere around here, and the BNP got more or less chased out of town by protesters when they came here, so I don't see that link at all when I see them and I don't think the vast majority of people do either. If anything, calling it the BNP weekend, whether for a laugh or not, actually gives them publicity, so I won't be doing that

It's a shame people don't use the union flag instead. After all that IS the flag of the queen and country.

Oh. I associate the bnp to the st George flag which is unfortunate that they chose that flag.

I agree with Kitten, I am loving all the Union Jacks and the extra days off. The family are all getting together, all wearing red, blue and white on the day, face painting for the kids, cakes with the union jack/queen theme, BBQ and hat wearing!! Even got a jubilee cake stand for the cakes. Love it all and I think we should be like this all the time, why only have the flags out for the Jubilee and the Olympics. I think it should be all year round

I never even linked the BNP to it.
