It definitely used to be the case that you'd pay a hefty premium for an iPhone compared to Android handsets but lately this seems to have changed with the latest top-end Android phones commanding much the same price.
If you are going to go with an iPhone then I'd definitely wait at this point as the next model is only around three to four months away. As for contracts, I personally don't like long ones but, if a 24-month contract works out best for you and you're happy to be tied to the network for that long then I don't see a problem with it. I personally prefer to pay more for a shorter contract and am on a 12-month one on my 4S. Do you know anyone who works for one of the networks? You can often get a discount through them if so. I've got a 30% discount on my Voda contract via a friend which means my 4S works out at a total cost over the 12-month term of £562.

I went from a 3GS to a Samsung Galaxy S2. It took a few days to get used to Android, but I was so glad I did it, and I'll never go back to an iPhone now. I've had it just over a year and still wouldn't swap it. I'm not even interested in upgrading. It does absolutely everything I want. Absolutely brilliant phone. Still got my iPhone, but it's purely an iPod for running/car now. I don't ever use it for internet browsing etc.

^^ Exactly the same. Went S2 in June last year, then even when mine got pinched last month, I've stuck with Android (HTC Desire HD which isn't the S2 but is good enough). I used my iphone for a week (I use it when I go out running/cycling etc or use it as an ipod in the gym so I don't have to carry my phone everywhere in case I bash it) and had to go back to Android, it drove me mad. The iPhone 4S just feels slow and clunky in comparison.
Although saying that I'll be interested to see what they bring out after the S3. The S3 is far too stupidly large for me, it doesn't fit in any of the usual places I keep my phone and I want a phone I can use with one hand, which is utterly impossible with the S3. It's just too big for my purposes.

Size isn't everything afterall!
I was tempted by the note - but that really is too big. The s3 is perfect and I can't wait to get away from the Super-iPhone!

Sounds like you feel pretty strongly about this. What was it about the iPhone that irked you?

Yup! Mr fan boy!
It was good whilst it lasted, I just can't wait to get away from this frustrating slow phone.

The phone just works, yes, it's simple, and it does the job. The interface is nice, if limited, but it's a great package. It was a market leader and no other came close. However, after owning several Super-iPhones I just cannot wait to move away. I just don't get on with it anymore - the relationship has come to an end. I think it's also because I struggle with apple products and just don't like them.

lol, I was wondering when that would happen
It's very thin Unfortunately, everyone I've seen using the S3 looks a bit daft because they're so big. It's all a bit: Sure it's a great phone especially if you've got big man hands but I've got a tablet for the bigger screen uses, I don't need something I can't hold in one hand.

I don't think she's irked, I think she's saying, as was I, that it's completely rubbish to say that you can't go from iphone to android because you're used to the iPhone. It's a very easy transition.
