Sweet mother of bob! Thats just insane! I'm really glad that I built my pc to cater for dual psu as really you are going to need it. I'll be splitting the cpu/mobo and gfx cards on different psu's at this rate.
With the amount of heat they are going to kick out.... watercooling really isn't going to be an option, unless you want your pc sounding like a turbine. I think buying the cards now is rather silly, like all the people who brought the dx9 cards before we had any dx9 games. I will hold off for the moment and wait until there are some dx10 games that require the cards. edit: my guess about the watercooling seems to be correct as they are already shipping a version with watercooling pre-installed. bloody hell - this technology has run away with itself... I still remember when a graphics card was considered awesome for having 128k memory! :/
Glad I don't play computer games really! I'd be devasted not being able to buy that!

Looking at my bank balance I could easily afford it, but I can find no good reason to do so. My 7900GT is barely a year old and still handles everything at good speeds. I was happy with my 9800pro before that and wouldn't have even got the 7900gt, but the 9800 dying forced my hand.

I bought it second hand from the OcUK forums when I first joined in 2001 or whenever it was for something silly like £50 and it's still my only gfx card (apart from a few cheapo PCI jobbies leftover from my crunching days) |

They are the fastest graphics cards currently in DX9 modes(at that price they'd better be) but they also happen to be able to run DX10 rather nicely as well which I suspect is the reason for the high price. I don't see the need for most people but then most people won't be buying them, not at the present prices anyway. I'm also not convinced that graphics cards are getting more expensive, to an extent they might be, but the overall cost of components has been driven down so if you want to think of it this way you could argue they are just filling the void left by the lower prices, now graphics cards are pretty much the most complicated component in a PC so that costs plus the recent Ram price increases won't be helping the situation.
I certainly won't be purchasing one, not for a good while anyway as my 6800gt has done me for 2 and a bit years now and realistically unless I get a bigger monitor it would probably do me for another year or so at least.

This is true.. very true.. let alone PS 4.0 games.
Infact, there aren't any decent game on rhe immediate horizon anyway. I've just completed a few FPS games and I have found myself stuck on what to play next. I'm looking forward to BioShock, Alan Wake and Crysis but they are a long way off yet. When you offset the games against the card, it works out that if you play four games in a year, it's costing you over £125 per game.. and that's without the CPU, motherboard etc..
