I wrote a complaint to the BBC this morning about the interview with Paula Clennells father. It was a terrible situation to put the bloke in, he doesn't watch the news and hasn't seen the police so the BBC phoning him with the first real information he was getting and he was really distressed :/
Shoddy work by the Today programme and very very off target MB |

#nods head# it's all about the sensationalism, the way they refer and compare each incident like it's a "top score" card. This morning on the news it was being reported as the worst murder spree in this country.. Oh haven't we short memories.. or they rely on us to have.. Hungerford spring to mind. Quite sickening really that they must do this. Report the facts and facts only, not try and make news.

I then arrived at work and missed the rest of the interview.

The only person the media coverage will fuel is the killer. I actually think that the way its being handled is a positive idea (apart from MBs example). Rather than being an aside in the national press like most murders are, it is all everyone is thinking about. People are going to be aware and vigilant and they are far more likely to be reporting anything strange. In this case whats wrong with putting a bit of fear into people? He's killed 5 people very very quickly, I dont see that there is any other option than what is being done now.

Ah that is what i meant rather than the situation. Nope I guess you are right but the press must stop speculating. Speculation = unnecessary fear but at the same time people have a right to be told and be vigilant.
My mum rang me last week to ask if Teresa was ok when she went out last week in Ipswich. I wasn't sure how to take that :- I agree. This was nothing more than a sad stunt for an exlcusive interview. Something that only the tabloids do to sell their papers. Obviously not.

I think he'll either stop (unlikely imho), or move on somewhere else. I still think he's moving very very quickly for a serial killer, I cant see him having the self control to just stop.

but then there was always the idea that it might not be just one person.
What worries me is that he wont find it easy to commit again in the ipswich area (the police would be bloody stupid if he did, or he would be very very clever!) so he could have hopped on a train and got to another town and be striking again. The police cant watch the whole country afterall!

Would it be unusual for a serial killer to have an accomplice and work so proficiently and fast? I'm going to have to dig out all my old psych books on profiling and psychos and stuff (I loved it all before I had the girls).

I agree. I takes a really sick mind to do this. If there were an accomplice, then the lessor minded would have folded by now. It does seem that this person has a vendetta for prosititues in that particular area. It could be someone who has been personally affected by a prositute in the past from Ipswich.. Man or woman
