My ex came off his bike at under 30 miles per hour. He had top notch gear on, the leathers were beyond repair but did the job and his lid had huge gouges taken out of it.

The bruises and graze he got through race spec armoured leathers was shocking.

My last crash I ended up sliding down the road on my arse wearing Levi's and they actually held up pretty well.

The broken scaphoid(sp?) and shattered radial head (elbow) didn't help much though

Saw a kid on the way to work last night doing about 40 between 2 lanes of crawling traffic wearing shorts and t-shirt. He nearly hit the side of the bus that decided to change lanes in front of him.!!

I've had too many close calls with stupid car drivers to ever ride without a leather jacket and at least decent jeans gloves and boots.

I want another bike

Won't catch me without me leather trousers off

I find it so hard to beleive that riders go out with just jeans and a T-shirt. Seems to be the Harley Davidson riders are the worse tbh. The A1 is nothing like Route 66 - dimwits

That is the point though, they do the job which your skin couldn't really do very well, it'll just either melt or wear away

Glad he was ok though.

I'm not criticising the gear at all Leo, but it doesnt bear thinking about what would have been left of his hip if he hadnt have had it all on. It did a brilliant job!

Bikers without protective gear on make me cringe Always extra wary when I see a biker nearby when I'm driving as I know how vulnerable they are.

I'm agreeing with you Pebbles It is the difference between life and death. Another mate who doesn't bike anymore is able to walk because the backbone thing in his jacket kept his spine in place when he came off at high speed
