I've used part worns before - usually on track wheels, but I've also got a set on the beigemobile. £25 a corner for me, but that's usually conti sport contact or sport contact 2, I wait until they get a set in for me

I always check the tyres over thoroughly myself before I accept them (I take loose wheels in, so am not stuck if I reject any. Out of 3 or 4 sets, I've only rejected one tyre. And I'm a fussy oik!
