My parents are pretty good on the basics to look out for, they're no petrol heads but I think they've learnt from experience.

Were you under 21 when you bought the Clio? That could be something to do with it; i.e. their policy doesn't allow drivers under 21. It's the same with most rental companies. Like Will, I also think DOC is something worth getting old for

Nope I wasn't, it was about a month after my 21st birthday.
Maybe they just didn't like the look of me
