I suspect there might be a bit of a shake-up if Boris Johnson gets voted in.

I can understand strikes over safety, and possibly if no payrises after a significant length of time and the company is doing well, but this hole lot is bull****.

/Dons militant socialist hat.

As has been mentioned, when a company goes into insolvency, it is usually because there is more going out than coming in and as Mark mentioned, the wage bill is usually a large factor in that.

The problem with most companies or government (local or central) departments is that, when they "rationalise" the work force to cut the wage bill, they cut the wrong people. They always seem to decimate the people who deliver the front line services rather than the (usually) top heavy management. I would imagine that about half of the wage bill for Metronet will be divided amongst the top 10% of the company - directors and senior managers on fat-cat salaries and their overpaid lackeys. Pay off a few of these if you need to "rationalise", not the hard working front line staff.

/Takes off militant socialist hat

I thought it was just the Metronet lines which were striking not the Tubelines ones?

Someone just asked me about the Met line - I told him good luck he's gone to the pub!

Erm....

Metronet is the company which does all the maintenance for the London Underground...

No maintenance means they can't guarantee the safety of the lines (or fix signal failures and whatnot) so the lines won't run.

I thought Tubelines did what Metronet did but just for Pic/Jub and Northern Lines.

I'm a girl so plus my mate works for Tubelines and I am sure thats what he told me...oh well!

You're correct, I hadn't bothered looking at that because I didn't care

I can only surmise that they are currently b0rked because they are just **** in general

Excellent use of the girlie card there miss - the dark one has no choice but to smile politely and back away

Edit: Oh noes, you've wasted the girlie card by playing it when you were right - disaster
