Indeed.

I often find myself thinking 'bothered' when I get an email from my boss and she's late because of the tube.

Text messages don't have the same affect though... weird. lol

Had one at my old job and it wasn't a problem. I just turned it off or ignored it when I didn't want to work

If I was your boss and you were ignoring calls/emails and I knew you had a bb, I'd either take out a disciplinary with you, or take away your blackberry and you'd be less likely to be trusted and certainly wouldn't rely on you.

Why give you a BB if you'rew going to ignore it? It defies the whole point of been given one!

I disagree. If I was disciplined for turning my Blackberry off in my own time, I'd be taking it within the company to the highest level possible. Yes, they're for being able to be contacted but one has to be allowed some private time.

Actually, it really does depends on the business you're in and your position within the business. Furthermore it'll be within your contract and part of your working guidelines for that company/role within the company.

Besides, I meant towards people ignoring their phones either on business trips, or when on duty. If you ignored your phone, or were found not be neglecting your duty, I'd file that under a disciplinary myself.
