Hey feeky hun... would just like to second a few peoples comments here:

*hugs* seconded

and

get a few other quotes *seconded*

My friend recently had a quote to fit and replace her boiler with some top notch fandangle thingy and it was £800.

I know it's not much cheaper... but every penny helps!

Good luck bubba and big BIG BIG huge HUGS and hope it all gets sorted soon xxx

I don't mean to sound harsh by any stretch, but if you really need it there are always things to sell, like the oPod touch for instance, until a time arrives when you can get toys again. As you said yourself you had an influx of cash recently and splurged it on a touch, that could have went to a disaster/rainy day money. I'm the same and when something goes wrong i have to suck it and sell stuff i want.

It's just bad look thats its come around right now, i feel for you, but you will be able to sell crap and shop around and/or call favours and possibly get it cheaper (like fakey has mentioned) and it'll be fine.

Good luck anyway

I'd look at getting a proper firm quote before saving up the £1,500. It might only come in at less than a grand so once you hitthat target you can stop saving for it

Are you looking to replace it anyway? Or just saving for the rainy day that it does break down?

*Manly Malc Hug Given*
I agree with the above about a grand should cover it matey. Trouble is as i well know it may as well be 50k or 50 quid if you haven't got it you just haven't got it.
Sometimes money & the lack of it can be real frustrating, I know your Pain.

That sucks Feeky. Definitely ring around and see what prices others will quote you. They'll often undercut each other for your business so if you play a few off each other you may end up with a much cheaper price.

Have a huge Davey hug though, hope you're not too down for too long about it.
