I was thinking gnome, becauase its always the default, but i do like KDE better. How would you rate the awful start to KDE 4.0 so far? Not worth the hassle for someone like myself?

Awful start?
I'd leave it for now anyway and stick with gnome. You can still run kde apps if you wanted to, they'll just probably ignore some of the global gnome settings.

Well it was a late release, and from what i've heard it really isn't finished more of a demonstration of what 4.1 can do? It's good but not all there yet... Thats the impression i get reading around, although it has massive potential, since its basically a rewrite.

I don't think its much past that tbh I think it was released to save losing any further pride, they gave themselves too big a target i guess...
P.S. I STILL cannot get over the speed inscrease, i'd hesitate to save well over 5 times a fast with opera (a million tabs) iTunes (huge memory hog) and playing around in loads of explorer windows (they load instantly, i'd ALWAYS be left waiting seconds before). This is actually inscreadible... |

I won't say I told you so...........
(I don't think I specifically did tell you so but I've been saying for nearly a year that Vista needs shedloads of RAM)

People have told me, and i told me, but surely it shouldnt be dog (i mean dog) slow with 1gb, thats just plain wrong. Anyways its still flying and i still have a huge smile on my face everytime it comes out of standby instantly or i restore opera with 30+ tabs and its just instant. Money well spent...
