Forgetting about all the dramatics...he is a lame singer anyway and VERY lucky to still be there.
If, indeed this is a show about how they sing and not dancing, then it shouldn't be about their personal lives too.. but of course it is. BB x |

Totally ridiculous result as the best all-rounder went and they kept Rachel who is quite frankly average in the extreme. Bizarre.
There are some good voices there, but I can't see any of them having a career. |

In which case he can sod off Pretty distasteful really if that's what he's doing. My apologises for the previous comment then, should have watched it first I did used to watch The X-Factor off and on but avoided it this year round.

That's really frustrating when they do that, there was one doris last year who was doing it for a dead so-and-so, I can't even remember who it was. It's fine for them to mention it at the beginning but it just grates when they mention it every single time they have an interview. You're there for your singing, not for the sympathy vote *poke*

I was shocked when Austin went tbh. He's the best male vocalist since Shane Ward a couple of years ago, and I had Austin down to be in the final against Alexandra (who is still my pick to win, anyone who can sing Whitney, Mariah, Christina and match them has an awesome voice). Still, I'd hope with his talent we'll still hear from him in the future, he's too good to simply drop out and not be heard from again.

The major real problem seems that this country doesn't fully support their winners. Will Young was poorly supported, but as a lone British vocalist did okay.
Steve Brookstein had a lovely voice, but Simon went to the US for 6 months straight after the show and didn't support him. Shayne Ward was amazing but got little support by the label, no record pushes etc... and then given awful songs. Girls Aloud got a great push, All-Saints and Spice Girls weren't around, Atomic Kitten were poor and GA had 5 very attractive girls and a good release song, on the flip side, One True Voice got no support. We've not heard anything of Leon either, fair enough it took a year to hear back about Leona's first song, but she was seldom out of the media push, she worked with the top producers on both sides of the Atlantic and when her song was unveiled it was a major event for both Perez Hilton (US) and Radio 1 (UK), Leon's song just appeared on the radio. Now if we cross to the American Idol winners we've had Kelly Clarkson who was massively pushed and did well, Fantasia did well in black America due to her style of music (Diana DeGarmo should have won ), Carrie Underwood has won awards for Country every single year and has been a mega star and recently we've had Jordin Sparks who was the worst AI launch yet, but her second album has been a real do'er and she's now had really big hits in the US and here. In America only Ruben and Taylor have struggled.... ... Now writing that all down it appears to me that the worst thing that could happen is for the winner to be Male as they quite simply don't get the support of the girls. As for this year in X-Factor, some good voices, notably Alexandra, but could she compete against Leona? I don't think so, firstly Alexandra lacks subtelty in her voice, something Leona excels at, she also has a habbit of shouting and going flat on big notes. She will be great given time, but she's already outclassed by a better singer in the same area should she win. Diana outside of X-Factor would likely have done well, but she needs to stop being over the top with her Cranberries stylised singing, it's becoming annoying and Laura would have been a sensation had she hit the charts before Duffy last year. For those 2 it would have been better to not be on X-Factor, sadly for me it's a competition between those 2 and Alexandra for winner now (poor Cheryl). The annoying side of this years show is that Eioghan, JLS and Daniel are utter tosh and the supporting cast aren't much better bar Ruth who could be a surprise package, but already being in the lower 2 once casts doubts. X-Factor needs a radical re-think, they need to allow bands in, instrument players (they are allowed to play piano, why not allow groups playing their own instruments and songs?) This show only confirms my suspicions that Simon Cowell is so out of sync with the music market as he was duped many times by the most recent winner David Cook into thinking his rip-off covers were of his own creation - many of which Simon had never heard of. |
